My interest in journalism can be traced back to my dad. He was not a journalist, but he loved reading the paper and watching the news at the same time -something he still does. When I was 15, I asked him why. Isn't watching the news just like having someone read the paper out loud to you? He supposed it might be, and that's when I knew I wanted to be the one either reading or writing the news. I'm lucky - I have had the opportunity to do both. I earned a degree in Radio and Television Communications in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. My first job was as a television news anchor and reporter in the small city of Medicine Hat, Alberta. After circumstances led me to Houston, I crossed over to the world of print.
